CLAIRE BLAGDEN SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY
TESTIMONIALS
Claire’s work was exemplary. I came to Claire at a time the NHS told me my son would not go to a “normal school” because of his lack of speech. After a brief telephone interview with four different therapists I had found online in my area I knew I wanted to work Claire. Claire worked with Jake every other week for an hour and also gave me work to do with Jake which I then did three or four times a week. At times we saw Claire once a week so she became a big part of our lives. Gradually Jake’s speech began to improve. Private speech therapy is expensive so naturally I sought NHS assistance alongside this but we had trouble finding an NHS therapist that Jake would really take to and if a child is not able to relate and trust that therapist they are not going to succeed. Claire’s biggest strength is her ability to make the child feel comfortable, confident and like it’s ok. She is a family woman who understands the intricacies of family life and worked with Jake like her own son. She is an amazing woman with a talent to get down to the child’s level and get the best result she can. Sometimes she was gentle, sometimes loud, sometimes silly but always smiley, good humoured and with a happy disposition.
Claire has also been on hand if I have needed to call her to check how to use a particular resource she has given me, of which I must say there have been a constant stream. But not inappropriately I may add. They always strengthen the work she had started with Jake and Claire always ensured that I knew how to use the resource.
At times Jake would have an “off day” and was not being cooperative with something Claire may have had planned. This was never an issue. Claire always had plan ABCDE… and by hook or by crook he would work on what she had planned and enjoy it. She was creative and imaginative and knew how to keep him motivated and energised. Equally I must add, there were days that it was noticeable that Jake was not in the right space so Claire would recognise this and we would use the remainder of the session to discuss bits ourselves, or we would allow Jake to step away for a while and come back.
The point is Jake felt comfortable. He is proud of Claire and absolutely dotes on her, because he trusts her. She is the strength that every child needs who has speech and language difficulties. She never let him down, she is kind, compassionate, dependable and committed and I think the child senses that.

Claire was fab, we never felt rushed and she was very thorough. We are looking forward to supporting our child with his next stage of therapy.
